Our Growing Practices

Row by Row Farm has a commitment to sustainable agriculture in accordance with sound ecological and economic principles.  We build and maintain healthy soils by applying farming practices that include rotating crops annually, using compost, mineral based fertilizer, naturally occuring soil amendments and cover crops. We serve the health of our soil, customers and nature by rejecting the use of synthetic insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, fertilizers and genetically modified seeds and feed.

We pasture-raise our flock of laying hens. They are fed a supplemental diet of certified non-GMO grain but spend the day feasting on insects and plants that they forage for in the fields. We give each bird approximately 100 square feet of space in the field and we move them every 1-2 weeks.

We aim to sustain the land in a healthy condition for future generations. It is our understanding that these practices grow the most nutritive vegetables and eggs and we maximize that nutritional value by careful post harvest handling.

As we continue to build our farm we'll work in co-operation with other farmers and with the neighboring community to create a more sustainable way of life.
